I am a professor of law at Tulane University and, in 2007, was named the Conrad Meyer III Professor of Civil Procedure. In 2006-07, I was a visiting professor at George Washington. I teach The Legal Profession/Professional Responsibility, Evidence, and Torts. I coauthor the Federal Standards of Review treatise, which may be ordered from LexisNexis. Its wholly new 4th edition, in 3 volumes (?!), will be published in May 2010. When it comes out, I will post an updated link here for ordering it.
I really like the e-book Kindle from Amazon.com and use it all the time. If you are still deciding and want me to discuss its pros and cons with you, just email me with Kindle somewhere in your subject. If you get one through this site's link [clicking either pic, with no added cost] and want me to tell you how to take advantage of some of its extra features and hidden attributes, just ask.
DIGITAL PUBLISHING at Quid Pro Books:
I have started a mainly-digital publishing company called Quid Pro, and its website is professional unlike this one. We create books in eleven digital formats sold at six sites, such as Amazon and Smashwords. Submit new manuscripts, bring back out of print books that have reverted to the author, publish your dissertation, publish a thesis, and publish a book in digital form. You will be joining several established authors from such schools as Penn, Berkeley, GW, UCLA, U. of Washington, Tulane, UCIrvine, Johns Hopkins, Wisconsin, NYU, and Wellesley.
An example is the classic Warren and Brandeis article, The Right to Privacy, which is one of the most cited and influential pieces of legal scholarship ever. My digital edition linked here has a 2010 Foreword explaining its importance and the backstory to it, including the paparazzi in 1883. You do not need a Kindle to read ebooks (or the tens of thousands of free ebooks out there); it works fine on the free apps by Amazon for PC, Mac, BlackBerry, iPad, and iPhone. And Quid Pro Books can be downloaded in simple PDF and rtf formats if you prefer, as well as Nook and Apple.
"THE LEGAL PROFESSION": To access the Law Professor Blogs Network blog on The Legal Profession, which I coedit, use this link. To access my encyclopedia entry, Lawyers (about the legal profession in the U.S. and worldwide), and further ordering information on The Encyclopedia of Law and Society, go to the page on Links. More biographical information is found on the About Us page. My SSRN author page is linked here.
Ethics and Legal Malpractice Consulting, or as a "legal ethics expert": I am potentially available to serve as a consultant or expert witness on matters of legal ethics, legal malpractice, conflicts of interest, and appellate standards of review. For information on this role, please go to the page on Consulting.
